Chapter 2 – She who had betrayed -Part 1

That woman has always been a greedy person, with a strong jealous personality. But her body have always been lacking in abilities.

She have always been jealous of the adults who are showered with opportunities and hating the adults who bribe their way to the top.

Thinking about it, she has always felt jealousy and scorn towards other people. In this place where that woman was raised and nurtured, all she was taught about is how to rise in power and how to gather more strength. If she did those things well, she would then be praised.

As a result of those teachings, coupled by her determination to be praised, her magical prowess achieved a great improvement. Her intellect has increased as well. All the things that other women could only dream of are all available to her now.

Hoping to achieve a bright future where everyone can live happily and in peace, that woman had no regrets in choosing this path.

The bright future she had hoped to achieve with her own hands, everything; everything has shattered, all because of that person’s mistakes.

That woman had risen to the top, being second to only one, but still, she didn’t think much of it. She didn’t think she could surpass her elders.

She believed that no matter how much decades  of experience she accumulates, she would never be on par when it comes to actual battle with her seniors, much less her father, who had accumulated far more battle experience that she will ever have.

Therefore she instead lived as someone who had a bright and promising future, and in turn, was treasured by her clan—But when an emergency comes, she would need to give up her existence to keep them alive.

Not caring about how her master has treated her, not caring about what others see her as, not caring about what happens to her in the end. Not one of her thoughts about it were expressed and brought to light.

Yes. If something really was to go wrong in the future, that woman’s future will become nothing but dark.

Not even one of her desires will be fulfilled when that time comes.

That woman had no choice but to wear the mantle of a traitor—To abandon the master who had weaken and strive to achieve a new kind of power.

And only by doing so, will one be able to fulfill one’s dreams.

So as much as possible, even if one uses a horse to reach the end of the road, that person must keep going and continue to gather information.

Even from the start, the position she wanted was plagued by loneliness and cruelty. By the time she gained the said position, every time she made a move, it will always lure in judging and scheming eyes, so it has always been tedious getting a job done.

But still, she didn’t give up. No matter if she were to run around endlessly, no matter if she lowered her head everywhere, she would still go ahead and gather information.

And when she finally reached that place, it was actually so close to her like her own home. Sometimes, it truly is hard to see what’s already in front of you.

The place she had found was actually just a few hours from the royal capital if you were to ride a horse. Inside a dense forest, you will see a small residence hidden by the lush overgrowth and a solitary mansion stands in the center.

Inside that mansion—No, Surrounding that mansion is a mysterious power that can be felt to the brim.

Even though you can see that the mana flow is quietly and gently surrounding the mansion like a warm blanket, the actual amount of mana is actually very vast compared to what the eye can see.

No one is actually generating such force on purpose, it’s just felt all throughout the forest.

It’s not like that person can’t control and hide the power inside his body, it’s just that the power inside him is immeasurable beyond scale that it can’t be helped if some poured out from her.

As if that body is a holy land that came out from a fairy tale.

Anyway, that residence is the perfect place to practice and hone one’s fire magic due to the climate and the surroundings to burn. If it was water magic on the other hand, it would be difficult to release it in its full potential because of the abundance of wood elements.

But even if that’s the case, any kind of elemental magus can battle in this place———.

In that place, the woman is quietly shaking her head, as if trying to think of something else to distract herself from something.

Even if this place has overflowing traces of mana, it would be a terrible place to use as a home base; as this place is close to the royal capital but far from the battlefield.

But this place is best to use if you’re going to create some sort of medical facility since this place is hidden behind the forest and transporting medical supplies from the capital will be easier.

Aside from that, the land is privately owned as indicated in the seal engraved in the old mansion doors. The said seal is an emblem that can only be used by those belonging to the royal family. But this seal is a curious one as it is the one used for the deceased royal members.

This residence is probably one of her former master’s belongings from a long time ago. Perhaps, she would even inherit this piece land after her former master passes away.

But there was no such residence indicated in the inventory records in the clan master’s library.

Hidden as it may be, the various magnificent engravings on the mansion is further proof that the owner has no intention of hiding his identity nor the value of the residence.

In the first place, the condition of the residence is in perfect shape. So even if a common member of the family were to use this as a hiding place, they could not be blamed.

Lowering her strength and approaching the mansion, the woman began to knock on the door, waiting for a response from the other side. Despite not hearing anything, her belief that someone is inside increased.

After using a bit of force to knock on the door, there was no reply heard from the other side. So she opened the door after confirming that nothing will attack from beyond it.

Upon taking a step inside the dim lighted mansion, she saw the person she had been looking for and lowered her voice to speak:

“I finally found you”

The candles in the room suddenly lighted up, with a man sitting on a chair, the lights illuminating his features. As if trying to look at the woman in front of him, his eyes slowly open up, showing his brown tinted eyes.

“Your persistence in finding me may be admirable, but the reasoning behind it is absurd.  Speak. What business do you have with this one?”

It was rare for him to speak in that kind of tone. It could be said that the number of times he spoke like that can be counted on both fingers.

It could also be said that for the longest time, this is the first time he used that tone towards her. With that being said, she had always felt fear towards the man in front of her because of the absolute difference in their powers as well as the guilty conscience that man has been carrying.

Even now, she couldn’t stop her body from trembling from fear. Still, she dropped her hood to the floor and knelt to the man in front of her and bowed her head.

“I dare ask a request from you.”

TN: I wonder who the guy is 😉
I have some free time (FINALLY TTATT) so I translated this while my friend skimmed through it and OKed it :v Kids, don’t follow my examples. Please study as much as you can to prevent a Yuu moment where she almost failed rip

Part 3 – She who mourns

The seniors shouted when they realized who that voice belonged to.

Guilford Ivris.

The first son of the Luzil head, the illegitimate son who awakened as a water magic, her most beloved big brother.

The mages around me looked at each other as if they’re in a predicament and shifted to the side, letting me through. Like the time they have accepted me as the clan head and let me deal with the troubles that come with it. I almost forgot to respond.

The senior mages in the front also moved aside. Because of that, we were able to recognize who that person in front of the gates is.

Atlas, Gil-sama, and a few young soldiers whom I recognize are behind them—they are the future heroes who will bring salvation to this country.

“…Even if she becomes useless, this Marquis of Harvester will take full responsibility for her! Cover for me, Gil-sama!”

Suddenly, tree roots began sprouting from the ground as Atlas put his hands to the ground.

Behind them a vicious fog began to appear, making the mages around me panic.

Regardless of earth magic, water is fire’s natural weakness. And a young man who can wield water magic that grew up in the presence of fire magic around him, so he wasn’t afraid.

The flame’s weakness, as well as the prior knowledge of the mansion’s structure, makes it easy for them to use magic effectively.

The fireballs they cast just dissipate in the air into mist as wind and water magic counter them.

Meanwhile, the trees that caught the other mages and entangle around their bodies suddenly made a dull creak and shattered the gates, continuing to reach me. In one of the roots, is a magician whom I am most familiar with.

I saw him, I saw Gil-sama behind the collapsing gates. He found me and moved his lips to say, I will definitely save you, Origa.

I heard those words many times.

It was the long-awaited dialog between the hero and the villain which I’ve read over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

I can’t help but laugh as I realized that those words will be said in this way.

This is my last chance.

This is what the owner of that arm in my dream mean.

“Origa” will not die here.

“….Keika. Burn them down.”

I muttered while a smile crept up my lips. The surrounding young fire mages, upon hearing those words, roared out their battle cry.

Seeing as she was not moving, I placed my hand on her shoulder for reassurance. She then began to circulate her mana around to help me.

My inability to use magecraft is certain at this point. But even so, if I would have to dye my body with my own crimson blood right now, I won’t hesitate with my decision.

She has been with me for a long time now, so she knows how I practice my magic. Even if it’s difficult, it won’t take long for Keika to be familiar with my magic circuits.

As my mana flowed out, I heard the fire mages around instructed me to where they plan to attack. Keika shook her head as she heard it.

“What the hell-”

“Follow me!”

Keika shuddered while circulating her mana towards me. With her help, I was able to create a raging fire and hit the person creating the mist. A muffled sound was heard when my target was hit and the surrounding mist began to dissipate.

As the fire mages continued to stand down in front, the tree roots from before slyly crept up to them and slammed them one by one.

The mages looked at me and compared the intensity of the flame Keika and I have created with the flames I have used to defeat my father from the inheritance succession.

We took a step forward. Keika patted my back with my hair as we struggle to continue forward. With each step we take, the final barrier they have set up in the mansion, slowly crumbles to the ground.

With heavy steps, we struggled to move forward. Nobody tried to stop us.

The tree roots that have been summoned and tangled in the gates have turned to ashes. The mist that is slowly dissipating contained ash and soot as they slowly fell to the ground.

However, through the ash and soot in the air, I saw that person. He didn’t use any magic anymore. His clear round eyes fixated at my approaching figure.

“It looks like you have recovered greatly, Atlas-sama. What business do you have with me today?”

Standing in front of a beaten up gate, Atlas furrowed his brows at me and hit Gil-sama’s back.

Surprised, Gil-sama yelped and grabbed the gate to prevent his fall then he asks if my injury is alright.

I nod silently and stared at his beautiful green eyes that started to cloud as he reaches out to take my hand.

* *The [] on the following dialogues means that those are said in the novel that “she” have read.

[“Let’s go, Origa. Nothing can be changed even if you stay here.”]

“Let’s go, Origa. Nothing will change even if you stay here.”

Ah. As expected.

It’s exactly what Gil-sama had said.

How many times have I read this dialogue?

How long have I been waiting for that exact line?

The words of salvation from his lips, words of warmth and promise to never leave his sister behind.

“If you stay here, you’ll just be killed. I don’t want you to die, Origa. I want you to live and be happy.”

“…Why do you care so much about me?”

“How can I leave you be when I know I can help you? You are my little sister!”

Ah.

These are the words that “I” have been longing to hear.

This is why I have to follow the novel’s script.

“Do you have any idea who I am? I am the country’s final defence line, the head of the Luzil clan. Even if the flam clan has been defeated, we will not be mocked and take your pity.

I saw a fiery blaze razing the fields in my mind.

[“I am the head of the Luzil clan. My role is to lead the clan until my last breath.”]

“Leave me be. Even if I have lost my powers, I am still the Luzil clan head. My job is to lead the clan until I die.”

Standing proud in the blazing fields is a wounded young girl.

[“I live for the clan and die for the country. With measly powers you have, are you strong enough to change the tides?”]

“I live for the clan and vowed to die for the country. Are you prepared enough to change the tides?”

A young man screaming to save a little girl.

[“Hundreds of my brethren. Are you willing to throw your lives for me?”]

“Hundreds of my brethren, Am I strong enough for you to throw your lives for me?”

And the mountain of corpse the little girl steps on.

[“My heart cannot be swayed if anyone will not betray me.”]

“My heart cannot be swayed by anyone who cannot abandon someone.”

My lips slowly drew an arc after I said those words.

Such scene may not be re-enacted like the original, since the story continued to change every moment.

The girl looks up and speaks with a volume that can be heard by everyone.

Only this time, “I” am speaking.

“I have slayed those who committed sins, those who are innocent, those who rebel, those who don’t resist, those who are noble, anyone, and everyone who stands in my way, in ways that you have thought about and in ways much worse than you think. You wish for my happiness? If you save me now, you will kill many more in the future. You will bear the sins of their death.”

I told him how stupid his desire was, and even felt like a heavy burden has been lifted off my chest.

As I narrated all my acts, Gil-sama looked horrified and doubtful as he looked towards Atlas.

Atlas in turn could not rebut all that I have said.

Since everything that I have said, and many more, are all the sins I committed.

An unbearable laughter came from my mouth. My laughter continued for a long while and echoed throughout everywhere.

Only my laughter is heard in this sea of ash and soot while everyone else is dead silent.

I am the demon that needs to be slayed.

Even if he loses powers, he can compensate it by working harder.

As long as the hero kills the villain, he will bring the light of salvation to the country and peace will reign.

The symbol of the old era, the center of the world’s hate.

If Gil-sama knows what atrocious deeds I have committed, only then will he be able to kill me.

Use the death of the evil person as a stepping stone to set peace to the world.

“If there is nothing else, I will return to my room. Atlas-sama, please go back. If you need anything else, feel free to send someone to me.”

Nobody reached out as I went back in the mansion. Yes. Nobody.

V4 C1 part 2 – She who mourns

I stood up from the bed. My legs aren’t wobbly but as I’ve thought, I can’t feel any power inside me.

Now that I think about it, I sense hostility from Keika’s interaction with the doctor. But she won’t threaten nor harm him as it would be detrimental to my image towards others, she won’t do anything that will implicate me as she has attained her current position beside me because I have betrayed my kin. That’s just who she is.

The following conversation was bleak to my ears as she helped dress me up. She forced a bright and lively voice while talking; meanwhile confirming that she is just acting like nothing is wrong and everything will be okay in the end.

When I entered the said room with Keika holding my hand, I saw a group of fellow mages and clan seniors conversing and interacting with each other. Despite looking like tough guys, their faces look cheerful and lively.

The doctor prepared a chair for me to sit on as it is still hard for me to stand too long in my condition. His watery eyes looks like they are about to cry.

Is it sorrow? Pity? Anxiety? Or is he angry at me?

However, once I settled down, all sounds of talking and shuffling have disappeared as the room suddenly comes in to a deathly silence. Their eyes look at me with curiosity and an emotion I can’t seem to grasp.

“Doctor, please, tell me. What’s wrong with my body?”

I couldn’t bare the silence and their stares so I broke the silence with my question.

The doctor explained in a low voice and looked around the room with everyone.

First thing is my body is in good condition as there are no external wounds and would heal properly and the prescription medicine will help quicken the recovery.

All he said are positive things like my body in good shape, and recovery will be quick and I can’t really ask any other things as he has told me what I need to know.

When someone said that it’s a miracle to not have any injuries after what happened, the doctor pursed closed his mouth and then said:

“With what has occurred last time, it seems like Origa-sama will not be able to use her power on her own. No, it seems like Origa-sama will not be able to use it without help, as her “vessel”, the one that hold and generates mana, has been broken.”

I slowly took in his words.

I was aware when it happened.

So that was the thing I felt that was missing. That power I’ve always felt before, was now gone.

There was no pain, but only a sense of loss enveloping me, weighing my body down.

The huge amount of mana from before, can hardly be felt right now.

Most of the mana that “Origa” was using was all from innate talent, and not the result of harsh training and experience. And that’s why I can measure how much was lost.

“She can still use magic as long as she stores enough mana right? Origa-sama is good at controlling her mana flow, even fighting when it is low!”

“No, that’s not the case this time.”

The words that Keika said were interrupted by the doctor, making the room fall to silence.

“While the vessel generates mana the same way as blood is generated in a normal human, her vessel this time is broken, with some exits being blocked.”

It’s like putting water on a broken jug, it will just keep spilling out on the cracks and will never flow on the rim. Those are his words as he apologized to me.

Most of my vessel is now broken and can never be patched back. It’s like what he said, no matter how much mana I accumulate, it will just spill out and I would be unable to release it properly.

However, although the generation of mana has declined significantly, it continues to accumulate in the body like a normal mage.

As time passes, the mana will spill out of the vessel and fill the surrounding boundaries, making the vessel itself be full but will overflow incorrectly and will harm the body more.

“If your mana continues to accumulate in the body instead of the vessel, it would eventually do more harm than good as it needs to be inside the vessel to be controlled properly. From now on, try keeping a mage beside you to help disperse the accumulated mana outside your vessel and use it regularly so it won’t accumulate too much.”

The doctor explained with a darkened face. No one in the room spoke. However, their eyes are all focused on staring at me.

When I looked up at Keika, she stepped back with her face looking horrified and scared, as if seeing a ghost.

It was really shocking for everyone in the room. It was even more shocking for her.

I was Luziru’s symbol of pride and power. The clan is a perfect organization that devours weakness and helplessness and greeds strength and power.

But right now, the head of the said clan is unable to use magic without help from others, ‘twas the end of a genius.

Since I was a child, I have already understood what the family views useless and incapable people.

“Who will be the next leader now?”

The words that were spoken were buried into everyone’s minds. I couldn’t stand it and bit my lips hard ‘til I taste blood.

“…Origa-sama’s title is bestowed upon His Majesty and also his trusted aide.”

“If we continue to tolerate it and make exceptions, we will just be a laughingstock!”

The question of whether to kill me or to keep me alive arose from someone’s mouth followed by desks being hit.

Surely I wouldn’t have done it if I can save Atlas with my powers back then. I was looking for a way for him to survive and continue standing beside Gil-sama.

So why should I stand before the hero as a villain if I have lost all my power?

The villain who deceives cannot stand before the hero as a villain.

“In any case, it’s not good that Origa-sama lost her power.”

No one turns their gaze to me for approval, me who is their owner. No one respects me who was now useless as a mage. No one looks at me who has abandoned them.

“According to her injury, she must not go out and recuperate for a year or two for now, but what will we do in the meantime?”

“I heard that the illegitimate child the previous head had recently awoken his powers, but his ability is compatible with water magic. How about looking for him instead to succeed her?”

“Or we could have Origa-sama bear a child, since if the tree is gifted, then the fruit must be as well.”

“But who is willing to marry her?”

“It’s necessary to have someone compatible with Origa-sama so that the child will be more powerful.”

One of a mage’s task in this world is bear a child powerful than yourself and help it grow. Although one cannot use magic anymore, but the offspring will inherit the magic ability from the parents.

It’s not even a marriage of politics anymore, but of urgency.”

“…….”

Contrary to my trembling hands, my heart is slowly being frozen. For some reason, I see my mother smiling at me with lonely eyes.

“—–If that’s the case, the previous generation is really is good.”

When I looked at the person who said those words, he looked at me as if looking at a plaything. Hiding behind those light-colored eyes, are the hate targeted at me for abandoning them.

“It’s good to you don’t know who your close relatives are”

That person couldn’t help but be confused, but swallowed down his questions instead.

Where my father was last seen is still a mystery to us, and a loud voice had sounded somewhere.

Rushing a marriage is illegal but they don’t have any choices left, so they turned a blind eye.

It’s decided.

I shook from where I sat and got goosebumps all over.

This is bad.

Nobody even cared to look at me to ask if I agree.

Nobody even cared to look at me asking for help.

Even Keika seems to agree with the decision.

I don’t know what to say anymore. What right do I have to disagree, when I have once abandoned them saying I was only protecting them?

–Is this my reward?

“I already told you that the vessel itself has broken, the said vessel is the one being inherited. So in this case, even if she gives birth, her child will be broken as well. It would never be a proper mage.”

Everyone in the room was stunned upon hearing what the doctor has said, with sweat on his forhead after interrupting the heated discussion. The room eventually calmed down as the men’s fiery enthusiasm was suddenly poured with cold water.

The word acts like my salvation, but is also my destruction, further proving my uselessness. This feeling is the same as that time I looked at Gil-sama as a child.

“Someone! There’s an attack! Please come-“

As the voice rung in the humiliating room, I stood up to escape.

*  *  *  *  *  *  *

“What the-”

“Hey, that’s…!”

A few people shouted as they rushed in the gate outside.

As Gil-sama was able to successfully recapture the fort and destroy the magic nullifying stones using his water magic, there is supposedly no chance for the enemies to attack the defensive cornerstone of the country which is the Luzil residence.

When someone pulled my arm from behind and was hidden behind the men that rushed outside, I glanced at a familiar figure before completely being hidden from my view.

When someone pulled me from behind the larger men, I faintly recognized the person that was causing the commotion before being hidden from my view. I tried to confirm who it was but I was shoved back in line and they won’t listen to me and blocked my sight.

“I wish for an audience with the present head of Luzil as the  present Marquis of Harvester, Atlas Ville Harvester.”

“Nothing will change even if you come here repeatedly. Our master has yet to heal her injuries from helping you.”

As I struggled to find out who that person was, I heard a familiar low-sounding voice.

The tension in his voice is unimaginable, as if he just came back from the verge of death from days ago.

That voice reached a distance, considering he was a few feet away from the front gate.

Perhaps there are wind mages in there? So they can amplify his voice like that.

“I heard you have doctors inside. She should be healed already. I am here to personally escort her out.”

“….That’s right, but even so, I could not let you gain entry to the household.”

Things about my current condition have been passed to the Marquis.

I don’t know if it’s because I was rescued together with Atlas, or it has come to the point where we can no longer hide it from the outside.

If it’s the latter, it will greatly tip the scales of war.

Other than the Luzil’s fire, only the earth and wind mages remain. But if they found out that the main firepower of the Luzils is gone, how much would it impact the remaining mages?

“Don’t you intend to eliminate Origa-sama? If that’s the case, then hand her over to me instead.”

“For you to say something scandalous, the more I cannot do that.”

However, the men’s angry shouts drowned what that person impatiently said after.

“This is the Luzil’s problem. A single mage like you who was kicked out from being the head cannot meddle in this clan’s affairs!”

Since when was Atlas was no longer the head of the Harvesters?

Such words are new to me.

“What do you mean?”

“….Atlas-sama was indeed bestowed the title of safeguarding the clan after Harvester-sama went to war, but it has been decided by your other clansmen to take it back from you as you are unworthy.”

The person who responded chased and pulled back my arm behind me and felt that mana is filling the air.

This young child abandoned her as a mage, shouted the men with anger and jealous voices. Their shouts filled the air and heated their emotions ablaze.

She, the head of Luzil, has abandoned them, abandoned her magic.

Wait.

I can’t keep up with what’s going on.

I know Atlas is here to see me, but why do they consider this as an attack?

Why did Atlas lose his title as the head?

The novel I read before didn’t have this setting. This development didn’t happen in the novel.

Surprised and confusion is swirling in my mind. I sighed quietly and heard a voice from the other side of the fence as it changed color.

“Yes, I am not a Luzil. I can’t meddle in this matter of yours. But I hope to see and meet Origa!”

“You little..!”

Chapter 1 – She who mourns

My body felt so heavy to move, as if I was sinking in a swamp.

I feel like something dropped from my body and tried to reach it, but I notice I can’t move at all.

Am I dead?

When I died before, I didn’t experience the same scene right now, nor did I have the chance to think about what happened to me.

My mind slowly wanders as I sink into the bottom, accepting my fate. Then suddenly, I feel a hand dragging me back up to the surface.

I heard someone say, “I don’t want this kind of ending” with a pitiful voice.

“This is your story now” apologises another.

“Please, don’t die and leave” prayed someone.

I have never heard that voice before, but I have heard those words before – Yes. I’ve used them before. This is how “Origa” used to say, “I can’t die in such a place”.

So hurry up, and open your eyes. Wake up.

I heard a voice in the distance, as if guiding me to the right path.

I felt someone touching me as if pouring his mana into my body.

I felt my body becoming lighter and warmer as my consciousness is starting to wake up

Ah, but I wanted to sleep a bit more.

But the warm feeling enveloping me is slowly being chased away, followed by a cold hand dragging me away—I slowly open my eyes.

“..riga-sama…Origa-sama”

As I open my eyes, the first thing I see is a hazy figure of a man in front of me, relaxing me. And as my eyes cleared up, I realized I have no idea what this man’s identity is.

“Are you…God?”

“Unfortunately, I’m just a doctor. But I’m glad you’re awake or else, things will get complicated if you stayed asleep longer.”

As I slowly blinked, I tried to speak, but my voice got caught in my hurting throat.

The pain made me wake up and tried to check the situation.

What happened to me?

I unexpectedly fell back to my bed as I tried to get up as my arm suddenly gave in and lost all energy. I felt my body too weak to even move again.

The man beside me saw my actions and supported me up and sat me on the bed, then he rang a bell on the side table to call someone.

I realized that I am in a familiar room once I looked around after sitting up.

“…I’m…alive?”

“Of course my lady, or else we’ll be in big trouble. Do you remember your name?”

He spoke in a hoarse voice while staring in my eyes as I nod. He then handed me a teacup with warm water in it.

“Good, it seems like there’s no problem and you are well aware.”

Why am I here?

Didn’t I die in the battlefield?

Before I spoke to ask what happened, Keika suddenly rushed in the room and broke down crying beside my bed.

My face almost reddened with embarrassment as she wailed like a child while lightly holding up my hands.

–The sensation felt the same as that person held my hands in my dreams.

*  *  *  *  *  *  *

After crying for a while, Keika calmed down and explained what happened after I lost consciousness.

It’s a miracle that I was still alive and kicking right now.

Keika and the others actually returned to the fort first but when they saw that a fire pillar appeared near it, they rushed to the rescue where it appeared with several knights following them.

According to her, I have been sleeping for 10 days already due to overusing my power and using an unfamiliar magic element. Coupled with me overusing the pills so that I can heal Atlas, shock and fatigue had overcome my body and reached my limit.

Atlas himself was severely injured but once he recovered, he even helped healing the others.

This miracle has been given by God as if mocking me, that I cannot leave the stage just yet.

The fact that Atlas had survived proves that the hero’s path has not been led astray just yet. The same applies to me.

I gradually recover my senses and felt something amiss inside my chest.

It was as if there is a hole inside of me where something has been staying, but was ripped out.

I tried to distract myself from that feeling by listening to Keika’s story since the doctor didn’t mention anything about my condition.

While the doctor was healing my wounds, Keika continued to explain what happened after I fainted as her voice trembled as she looked at me while the doctor looked away.

“Keika-dono? I think that’s enough. You should not tire out master Origa-sama for now as she has just woken up, besides, she won’t be able to take everything right in. We need to let her rest.”

Keika’s voice trembled even more and almost voiced out a sob, she looks as if she wanted to say something as she glances at me and the man that looks like a doctor.

I stared at Keika with a gaze that says it’s okay and her ashen and tired-looking face lightened up with a smile of appreciation.

I really am wondering now what happened while I was asleep.

“Keika-dono, please don’t take offense. I am only voicing out what’s good for her. And I am also requested by another clan member to have a look at Origa-sama’s condition. That person is just in the room in front.”

As Keika was trying to raise a protest, the doctor bowed his head down regretfully.

“For now, I would like for Origa-sama to go to that person’s room and greet him. Of course I would not want to force you in your condition, but it’s my job to bring you to them alive. Please understand.”

Keika’s suddenly looked down as she heard the doctor’s words.

If someone really did request him to check on me, then someone with authority must have personally sought to ask him to come.

With the continuous decline of people with magical compatibility, healing mages are already scarce in the first place. Add to that is they have always been in the edge with the Luzils because of the clan’s arrogance.  With those facts, it would be hard to get someone to look at me, even more so since I am the current head of the Luzil clan who abandoned them before. With those abilities, that person could just find someone else and have me dragged to him but he didn’t. Instead, Keika is still here with me.

Yes, even Atlas threw his own life just to save me because of him.

“I don’t mind. Keika, please help me change my clothes.”

V3 Chapter 5 – The story of “her”

EDIT: Okay, me being an idiot didn’t tag it properly but this is still under Volume 3 rip, I’m very sorry

Origa, Emelda, Luzil.

A powerful fire princess born between the union of a father with an excellent fire talents and a mother of royal blood.

A girl who rushed in the flames of war while being greedy for power as the last defence of the country as her family’s duty.

The last honor of the Setting Sun clan. (The TL says Shaoyang which means Slanted Sun, so I just tried to make it understandable. Basically means her clan’s title. Could be

I know the novel’s end, but this is all I know about “her”.

Because of differing opinions, the villainous sister clashed with the heroic main character, her own brother.

In the story, “I” have only been told about the sister’s severe maltreatment towards her own brother, up to the sister’s and the family’s path going astray.

She was arrogant, prideful, duty bound to the point of being abandoned, but never wavering.

In the end, her thoughts and goals aren’t even properly explained before the hero.

“I” who was reading the novel, hated her stubbornness and violence every time she clashed with the hero in the story.

–But if you are to live your life in her place, you would understand why she did those things.

Her powers are so powerful that with her clan’s power’s continuous decline, she was considered to be a goddess and was valued.

That she is the family’s last hope from decline.

Because of that, she can never waver and change her thoughts that focused on strength.

Though it is so, she can’t abandon her own family.

Because if she who is considered their god abandons her family, then everyone will just lose their way.

Only she who is considered a legend can protect them.

She is the strongest fire mage in the world. But she is also just a mage with no power to change the world.

–That’s why she should continue this ballet in the center stage as the villain, even if she knows her end will be in ruin.

The hero, who has nothing and not the villain, who has everything, has the power to change the world in both theory and reality.

Therefore, she would not be in the final curtain call.

She couldn’t abandon her family who still has an old-fashioned mindset.

Those who are proud of their power will live in power and die in power.

Even though the clan is on the decline, she was still pushed to the battlefield because of their pride and her power.

A noble and powerful fire mage.

Therefore she overcame the mourning of her fellow companions and was alone in the final stage.

Whether she bowed to the people she wished to protect, or she is chased by the people who left her behind, or she is betrayed by the Lord whom she gave her loyalty to, in the end, she alone mourned everything and was killed by her own older brother who has nothing.

Here, the novel’s continuation has ceased.

The country that lost their last line of defense, the family members who survived, the heartbroken older brother who has murdered her own little sister,

Their fates are all unknown.

But perhaps it is a troublesome future where a soft hearted and gentle water mage is suffering alone and crying.

The incomplete data given to the home country is akin to destroying the country for it to be saved.

This is a sure way to save the country and end the turmoil.

But it would also result in a mountain of corpses.

The author once asked the readers whether the hero was pessimistic about such an end, or if Gil-sama was close to Origa, the country would not be in shambles like this.

If the mage of future salvation and the mage of the most powerful flame held hands together, it would surely result in a different ending.

I wish everyone will come to a happier future.

But the answer to the author’s question blocked such a dreamy path.

Even if the hero goes to a bloodless route, Origa’s strength will always cause a disaster.

A girl who can’t create anything but only destroy.

At that time, “I” smiled happily as I was satisfied with the author’s response. She was just born in the wrong time and therefore became the Fire Maiden.

The author had decided that no matter what happens, she is bound to be powerful and is destined to be the source of disaster.

A symbol of the old era that was born in the transitioning times.

No matter what she does, her future will never look bright. (yuu: no pun intended, although she has flame powers she will never be bright lololol sorry continue.)

She can only be a villain, she will never be the hero.

An existence that will never steal the hero’s position.

There is only one purpose for her existence.

So “I” am…No, I am “Origa”.

TL notes: this is one short chapter, but hey, more time to translate other chapter woohoo!
The title originally says 閑話 【私】 which from my understanding is “she” is monologueing about Origa, so I just put it as the story of “me”.
